Fine and Dandy - Privacy Policy

Fine and Dandy is a well-being monitor for you and your loved ones. This page explains what information the app and website use, who can see it, and what we do not do.

Plain language first: you choose who sees your well-being light. We do not sell your personal information whatsoever, and the app is not a GPS location tracking app or device.

1. Policy coverage

This Privacy Policy applies to everyone who uses Fine and Dandy, and to the Fine and Dandy website, and web app when you use them.

How the app stores data today: Check-ins, settings, and contact lists can be saved on your device. Multi-device sharing (so invited people see each other’s lights on other phones or computers) needs a Fine and Dandy cloud connection when that feature is turned on.

Current status: The multi-device cloud service is paused / offline while infrastructure is rebuilt. Until it is turned back on, the app works as a local device well-being tool: your check-in stays on the device you use.

2. What Fine and Dandy is (and is not)

Is: a well-being status monitoring tool so people you invite can glance at a simple status light.
Is not: a medical care app, a medical device, emergency services, or a substitute for calling 911.
Is not: a social network, public feed, or location-stalking product.

In an emergency situation, you must call 911, as this app will not make any emergency contacts whatsoever.

3. Information the app may use

Depending on how you use the app, it may store or display:

Display name you choose for yourself
Well-being check-in status (for example green, yellow, or red light) and related timing
Contact list entries you add (names and invite details you provide)
App settings such as check-in interval, time zone, light placement, and window size
Terms of acceptance record (that you agreed to the Disclaimer / Terms of Use)
Optional account details if you use an account sign-in path (for example email), when that feature is enabled
Basic technical data needed to run the app on a device (for example local app storage and device/browser type)

On a single device, much of this can remain in that device’s local app storage. When multi-device cloud sync is enabled, status and contact information needed for the light and invites may also be stored on Fine and Dandy servers so authorized people can see updates on their own devices. Only people you invite or authorize should receive your well-being status.

4. What we do not collect or do

We do not use GPS or location tracking to follow where you go.
We do not sell your personal information whatsoever.
We do not create a public profile or stranger feed of your well-being status.
We do not ask for more personal data than needed to provide the well-being light and related features you choose to use.

5. Who can see your well-being light

Only people you invite or authorize should see your well-being status light.
You can remove a contact or stop sharing when you no longer want that person to see your status.

6. Notifications

Fine and Dandy does not send notifications today. People you authorize see your light when they open the app. You can turn device notifications off in your phone or computer settings at any time.

7. How long information is kept

Local device settings and status history stay on the device until you clear app data, uninstall, or reset the app.
Shared status between authorized contacts lasts while those people remain on your contact list and your devices remain set up to share.
If you remove a contact or clear local app data, that person’s access should stop for future updates from that setup.

8. Children

Fine and Dandy may be used by families, including situations such as kids at home with a babysitter, when an adult sets it up and supervises use. It is not directed at children collecting personal data on their own for advertising or public sharing. Parents and caregivers should manage invites and device permissions.

9. Third-party services

If you open the app through a browser or install package, that browser or operating system may have its own privacy settings and policies.

When multi-device cloud features are enabled, Fine and Dandy may use infrastructure providers to run accounts and sync, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) services such as Cognito (sign-in), API Gateway / Lambda (app server), and DynamoDB (status, contacts, and invites). Those providers process technical and account data only to operate the service you chose. Their own privacy terms also apply to their platforms.

We do not use those services for advertising profiles or to sell your personal information. Continuous GPS location tracking is not part of the product.

10. Your choices

Choose your display name and settings
Choose who is on your contact list
Agree or decline the Disclaimer / Terms of Use (required to use the app)
Remove contacts, clear local app data, or uninstall the app

11. Security

We aim to keep well-being status and contact information available only to the people and devices you authorize. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure. Please use device passcodes, keep software updated, and only invite people you trust.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product grows. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date on this page. If changes are significant, we may also note them in the app or on the website.
